The major fitout was the bathrooms, and is now the biggest compliment we get - amongst many compliments. We removed the entire bathrooms including the walls and floors, and replaced them with modern facilities that are clean, well lit and have unlimited natural gas hot water.
Catering for backpackers, hikers (or trampers if you are a Kiwi), student, youth hostel travellers, holiday makers and more - your stay here will be clean, comfortable and most importantly, safe. Every guest will be treated like a VIP.
The ground floor kitchen opens into a large, light and airy dining room and quiet lounge, whilst the entrance opens into another dedicated lounge area with space to open your maps, plan your tours, pack your packs and watch some TV on the huge plasma TV. Out the back door of the kitchen we have a herb garden and a FREE BBQ in a lovely courtyard.
The entire backpacker hostel has been recently renovated with beautiful paintwork and the original baltic pine floorboards have been polished to a mirror finish. The building is registered as a Heritage Building with the Heritage Council of Tasmania. It is located in the heart of the art and culture area of Launceston, with the Art Campus just down the road next to the Art Gallery and Museum and Inveresk Rail Museum. |
